Case registered against SP leader Azam Khan, son Abdullah Azam for hiding cleaning machine

A case was registered against senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, his son Abdullah Azam and seven others for dismantling a government-owned machine and hiding it on the campus of Jauhar University.

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh):A case was registered against nine persons, includingsenior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam for dismantling a municipality-owned machine, which is used for cleaning and thereafter hiding it on the Jauhar University campus. The charges were slapped on them for dismantling and hiding the government-owned property.

Besides, the FIRs were also registered against former chairman of the municipality Azhar Khan and vice-chancellor of the university Sultan Mohammad Khan. It is alleged that the cleaning machine of the municipality was recovered during the digging work at Jauhar University. "The FIR was registered under Sections 409, 120-B of the IPC and Sections 2 and 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Bakar Ali Khan has lodged a complaint with the Rampur City Kotwali Police Station against seven people, including Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam. They were accused of dismantling the government machine and hiding it on the Jauhar University campus," police said.

Meanwhile, police recovered stolen books from the library of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University located in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district, run by a trust headed by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan. The recovery has been reportedly made on the information provided by two friends of SP leader Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam, who were arrested earlier.

According to the police spokesman, the books were stolen from Madrasa Alia in 2019. Additional Superintendent of police (ASP) Sansar Singh told reporters that the books of Madrasa Alia have been recovered from Jauhar University. In 2019, 9,633 books were stolen from Madrasa Alia. Out of this, 6,000 books were yet to be recovered. (With agency inputs)
