New Delhi: The statements of a female wrestler, who has accused Indian Wrestling Association President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual exploitation, have been recorded on Monday. Statements of the female wrestler have been recorded under 161 of IPC. After registering a case against Brij Bhushan and a coach, the Delhi Police started investigating the matter.
Following the order of the Supreme Court, two FIRs have been registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Statements of other women wrestlers will also be recorded soon. Delhi Police can also call Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for investigation. Delhi Police has registered two FIRs in this matter. One of the complaints has also been registered under the POCSO Act. Seven female wrestlers, including a minor, accused Singh of sexual harassment.

Wrestlers are protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Wrestlers alleged inaction by the government as they believe that Singh is not being arrested due to political influence. Since April 23, the wrestlers are staging a dharna as a mark of protest at Jantar Mantar alleging inaction on the complaint against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The Delhi Women's Commission also complained to Delhi Police.
Following the protest, in January, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the formation of an 'oversight committee' to probe allegations levelled against the Wrestling Federation of India and its chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and other coaches. The committee was given the task of submitting a report on the issue to the ministry.
