Kolkata (West Bengal):Lok Sabha MP Babul Supriyo who pledged his alliance to the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) after having moved out of the BJP, on Monday spoke to ETV Bharat about his new innings. The singer-turned-politician also expressed his gratitude to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for including him in the 'playing 11' and added that he is a person who would love to play on the front foot.
The Lok Sabha MP from Asansol and former BJP leader on being asked about what his role would be in the new Khela Hobe team said, "See, it is a prerogative of the Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and it will be premature for me to comment on it. All I can say is, there was a bit of disappointment when I decided to quit politics. But, that is past now. I stand by my conviction and I can tell you that I will not delete any of my comments or posts on social media."
Supriyo went on to add, "Wherever I have been, I have tried to be there whole-hearted. Obviously, Didi has spoken to me about something, which has prompted me to take this decision to return to politics and work with the Trinamool Congress. There are many talks about Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and others. Eventually, Mamata Banerjee will surely make things clear. I am aware of the brickbats being hurled at me, but that is a part of the whole process."
