New Delhi/Ghaziabad:Even as farmers in different parts are agitating regarding the three controversial agricultural laws, those at Mandola village in Ghaziabad are staging a unique form of protest demanding proper compensation for land acquired from them. The farmers of Mandola village Wednesday symbolically buried themselves alive by digging pits and lying down in these.

The matter relates to 270 acres of land acquired from them by the Uttar Pradesh Housing Board. The farmers have been demanding proper compensation for the last five years. However, due to non-fulfillment of their demand, they took the unique step of symbolically burying themselves alive as a sign of protest.

Farmers at a village in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, staged a unique form of protest in support of their demand for adequate compensation for land acquired from them.

Farmers' leader Manveer Teotia also joined the unique protest Wednesday and said that already there are protests across the country against the three controversial agricultural laws.

“The farmers of the whole country have united,” Teotia said. “We are raising the demand relating to the agriculture laws here. Apart from this, the farmers of this village should also get proper compensation.”

He said that apart from symbolically burying themselves, the farmers will also stay on fast till their demand is fulfilled. Farmers from six villages have joined the protest at Mandola. Seeing this, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area.

It may be mentioned that on September 9, Additional District Magistrate Ritu Suhas had spoken to the farmers of Mandola village, after which they postponed the decision to symbolically bury themselves. But despite that, they eventually staged the unique protest Wednesday.

Even as farmers elsewhere are staging protests demanding repeal of the three agricultural laws, the new protest at Mandola has increased the concern of the administration.
