Kolkata:Sanatan Roy Chowdhury, who is currently under police custody for faking as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer and a standing government counsel, has claimed to have represented India in two internationally acclaimed summits abroad. He confessed to this during an interrogation by the probe officials.

He claimed that he represented India in two prestigious summits namely BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and Tokyo Global Business Summit.

Police sources said that the probe officials were shocked initially and were confused after the accused made such tall claims. They could neither believe in his words totally nor could they overrule the possibilities. The police are now getting in touch with the Union Home Ministry and the External Affairs ministry to get to the bottom of it.

At the same time, it has come to the notice of the probe officials that Roy Chowdhury also contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Dum Dum Lok Sabha constituency on behalf of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). In that election, he secured a little more than 5,000 votes and hence his deposit was forfeited. Police are also trying to probe how deep is the contact of Roy Chowdhury in the LJP.

After the arrest of Debanjan Deb, the fake IAS officer connected to the Kasba bogus vaccination camp, Trinamool Congress leaders were in the midst of controversy as pictures and videos of Deb with several top ruling party leaders surfaced.

Now after the arrest of Roy Chowdhury, BJP is in an embarrassing position. The police have seized a letter from the accused which had the letter head of BJP’s Delhi unit. At the same time, several pictures of him along with Rudranil Ghosh and other BJP leaders were also recovered from his custody. Incidentally, Ghosh was the BJP candidate from the Bhowanipur assembly constituency in the last state assembly elections.

The common factor between Deb and Roy Chowdhury is that both used to use blue-beacon vehicles to hoodwink people. In addition, Roy Chaudhury's vehicle had a sticker of the CBI.
