J&K: Two Jaish militants killed in Kulgam encounter

A joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Gujjar Pora, officials said. As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, they added.

Srinagar:Two Jaish-i-Muhammad (JeM) militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Gujjar Pora, DH Pora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, they added. On Twitter, Kashmir Zone police, while quoting IGP Vijay Kumar, said two militants were killed in the gunfight identifying them as Zakir Paddar of Kulgam and Haris Sharief of Srinagar. Pertinently another encounter is underway in north Kashmir's Kupwara where two militants have been killed so far.
