Srinagar(J&K): Two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel died and 12 others were injured on Monday after militants attacked a bus of security forces near Aripora Zeewan in the outskirts of Srinagar, officials said.
Expressing anguish over the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha have condoled the demise of the security personnel.
Disclosing the details related to the attack, Kashmir Zone Police said, "#SrinagarTerrorAttack: Among the injured police personnel, 01 ASI & a Selection Grade Constable #succumbed to their injuries & attained #martyrdom. Further details shall follow.@JmuKmrPolice," in a tweet.
"Unidentified militants fired indiscriminately at the vehicle of 9th battalion Indian Reserve Police (IRP) at Zewan area on Pantha Chowk-Khonmoh road in which 14 policemen sustained injuries of which the condition of four is stated as critical," a senior police official told ETV Bharat.
“All the injured have been referred to the hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off and a massive search launched to nab the attackers," he added.
