Jharkhand: ED raids locations of Soren's MLA representative Pankaj Mishra

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe is about some alleged irregularities in the award of toll plaza tenders in the Jharkhand. Action is being undertaken under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Ranchi (Jharkhand): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday launched fresh raids at the locations of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's MLA representative Pankaj Mishra. The raids are currently active at 18 locations in Sahaibganj district, including Sahibganj, Berhait and Rajmahal in connection with a tender scam.

The probe pertains to alleged irregularities in the award of toll plaza tenders in the state and the action is being undertaken under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The case was initiated when the Jharkhand police filed an FIR and the ED is presently looking at purported links between alleged illegal coal mining operatives and those involved in operations of toll plaza tenders in Jharkhand, officials said.

The ED in May raided IAS officer Pooja Singhal, her businessman husband and others as part of a money laundering investigation against them. Singhal was holding the charge of Jharkhand mining secretary. She was suspended by the state government following her arrest by the ED. A charge sheet was also filed against her and others by the agency before a special PMLA court in Ranchi early this week. (With Agency inputs)
