Delhi: Two unidentified bags found at Trilokpuri cause flutter

Bomb disposal squad which checked both the unclaimed bags at Trilokpuri recovered a laptop, a charger, and some papers in the bag. Police found it to be a case of bag lifting.

New Delhi: Days after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was disposed off in Ghazipur Phool Mandi, two unclaimed bags found in the Trilokpuri area of East Delhi caused quite a stir on Wednesday. The bomb disposal squad which was pressed into service recovered a laptop with its charger, and some papers from the bags.

Police said they received information about two unattended bags lying near Metro Pillar No. 59 in Trilokpuri, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kalyanpuri police station. A police team along with the fire brigade team and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

Based on the contents of the bag, the police traced the owner of the bags as Somesh Gupta. He was intimated about the bag and has been called to collect his bag.

"A PCR call was received regarding two unidentified bags. Our teams reached the spot and found that nothing suspicious is there. It's a case of bag lifting. We have identified the person and will hand over the belongings," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Delhi, Priyanka Kashyap told ANI.

"It is a case of bag lifting and nothing suspicious had been found on the spot," she added.

On January 14, NSG guards safely detonated an IED in Delhi's Ghazipur flower market. Police are yet to make any headway in that case.
It is also pertinent to note that the Delhi Police and related agencies are also conducting mock drills across the national capital in view of the Republic Day.
