New Delhi: In a chilling recall of the Shraddha Walkar murder case, a woman and her son were arrested for allegedly killing her husband, chopping the body into 10 pieces and keeping them in a fridge in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar, police said on Monday. Anjan Das was killed on May 30 and some of his body parts were found stuffed inside a bag at the Ramlila Ground in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri on June 5, police said.
Another Shraddha-like murder: Mother-son duo kills husband, chops body into 10 pieces His wife Poonam and son Deepak disposed of the body parts, of which six have been found so far, at different places in east Delhi over a period of three to four days and buried the skull, they said. The duo had killed Das over suspicion that he was eyeing his stepdaughter and stepson's wife, police said. The fridge used for storing the body parts has been seized, police said.
The CCTV cameras installed near the Ramlila Ground helped in solving the murder mystery. In CCTV footages, the accused were seen carrying polythene bags which were believed to have been used for carrying the chopped-off body parts and disposing of them in isolated areas behind the Ramlila Maidan and the New Ashok Nagar drain.

Amit Goel, DCP Crime of the Delhi Police said in a press conference that the murder took place on May 30 when the mother-son duo made deceased Das drink liquor after diluting sleeping pills in it. Then they slit his throat and left the body at their residence for a day for the blood to drain out completely. Then they chopped off his body into 10 pieces.
Another Shraddha-like murder: Mother-son duo kills husband, chops body into 10 pieces The DCP said that some body parts were recovered by the police from Ramlila Maidan in the East district on June 5; then over the next three days the victim's two legs, two thighs, a skull, and a forearm were recovered. The gruesome state of the murder prompted the police to file the case and identify the body of the deceased, Goel said. CCTV footage was then analyzed, door-to-door verification was done and finally, the body was found to be that of Anjan Das. Das was missing for the last five to six months. However, there was no missing complaint filed by his family members. Poonam and Deepak were seen in the CCTV footage. Moreover, after questioning they confessed to the crime.
Poonam and Das got married in 2017 after her husband Kallu passed away in 2016. Deepak was born from her previous marriage to Kallu. The deceased, Anjan, was earlier married in Bihar and had eight children. He was unemployed and used to engage in domestic fights frequently, the DCP said.

They were also concerned over Anjan's unemployment, Ravinder Yadav, Special CP Crime of the Delhi Police said.
According to police, after the recovery of Das' body parts, a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence and giving false information) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Pandav Nagar police station.
