Delhi Police bust fake currency gang operating from Dubai

The Delhi Police Special Cell has busted a Dubai-based racket supplying fake currency notes in Delhi and NCR. The mastermind behind the fake currency gang is one Sariq, who is based in Dubai and has alleged links with Pakistan, police said.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell has busted a Dubai-based racket supplying fake currency notes in Delhi and NCR. The mastermind behind the fake currency gang is one Sariq, who is based in Dubai and has alleged links with Pakistan, police said. Delhi Police apprehended two accused in this connection Sunday, who have been identified as Mohammad Zakir and Kamre Alam. Police also seized fake currency with face value of Rs 4 lakh from them, which are of 200 and 100 denominations. It is also being reported that the fake currency notes were circulated in other states as well by the two accused.

According to DCP Sanjeev Yadav, Sariq, the mastermind of the fake currency, had been running the operation from Dubai. The Special Cell also has strong evidence of the accused having links with Pakistan. The other two accused, Zakir and Alam, belong to Kardam Puri in Delhi and Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh respectively, the official said. The cell, on having received specific inputs, set up a trap and nabbed the duo from Sarai Kale Khan area of ​​South Delhi, the DCP further added.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the mastermind is also involved in the theft of luxury cars, and other robbery cases in Delhi and NCR. Police are taking further action in this matter.
