Delhi: Anti-narcotics team busts African drug syndicate

A team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell from Delhi's Dwarka district has apprehended three African nationals including a woman, thereby busting a syndicate involved in the supply of drugs.

New Delhi: Anti-Narcotics Cell team from Delhi's Dwarka district arrested three African nationals including a woman for their alleged involvement in drug supply. They have been identified as Angela Nalunonda from Uganda, Ifhedi Frank Eve and Yuche Livins Dyke from Nigeria. A total of 811 grams of high-quality heroin has also been recovered from them and its price is estimated to be Rs 10 crore.

Dwarka DCP Santosh Meena, says that the Anti-Narcotics Cell has constantly been engaged in the investigation and has been monitoring the movement of suspects to nab the drugs syndicate and suppliers in the district.

On September 17, the Anti-Narcotics team based on a tip-off came to know that heroin was being smuggled in large quantities near Uttam Nagar Metro Pillar No-701. In order to foil the plans of the drug syndicate, a team of SI Roshan Lal, ASI Hans Kumar, ASI Kartar, Head Constable Jitendra, Constable Arjun and others was formed under the supervision of ACP Operation Vijay Singh Yadav, while the entire mission was being led by SI Subhash Chand.

It was in this operation that the police nabbed an African woman, from whom, 362 grams of fine quality heroin was recovered. During interrogation, she told the police that she had visited India in 2017 on a medical visa for 5 months and since then has been living in Uttam Nagar area on rent.

She further said that Ifhedi Frank Eve had offered her the work of supplying drugs and that she was handed over consignments of heroin.

Taking action on this, the police on September 18, set up a trap and nabbed Eve and recovered 345 grams of heroin from him. During the probe, he revealed that it was Yuche Livins Dyke who was supplying him with the drugs. Finally, the police nabbed Dyke from Holi Chowk Park in Uttam Nagar on September 20 afternoon and recovered 104 grams of heroin.

Police also further came to know about heroin being smuggled from Nigeria to India via Bangladesh and Nepal.
