New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday that a cyclonic circulation is lying over the north Andaman Sea which may increase rainfall intensity over East India and adjoining Central India from October 15, 2021. In a statement, IMD stated that under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over East-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north Andaman Sea during the next 48 hours.
"It is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 24 hours. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated thunderstorm (wind speed 40-50 kmph) and heavy falls very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 5 days," it further added.
Apart from this, a cyclonic circulation also lies over East-central Arabian Sea and extends up to mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to persist during the next 2 days and an east-west trough at lower and mid-levels runs from cyclonic circulation over the north Andaman Sea to a cyclonic circulation over east-central Arabian Sea.
