New Delhi: Sitaram Yechury, the national General Secretary of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) while addressing the media in Delhi on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not replied to the letter relating to Tripura violence. He was accompanied by Tripura former chief minister and senior CPI-M leader Manik Sarkar.
Yechuri had written to Prime Minister Modi demanding the intervention and action of the Central Government in the violence and anarchy in Tripura. "Even after a week, the Prime Minister Office's response is far away, there was no even acknowledgement for the receiving of the letter," said Yechury.
According to CPI-M, a total of 44 party offices were targeted during the violence, out of which 4 offices were demolished, 27 sets on fire and 12 offices were looted after damaging it. The 44 offices also include state, district and zonal level offices in Tripura. The violent clashes erupted between BJP activists and CPI-M in different parts of Tripura on September 9.
Yechury alleged that the people who were seen during the violence were carrying "BJP flags" and were chanting "Jai Shri Ram". He also alleged that the police was acting like an agent of the BJP-ruled government and was trying to save the attackers in many places.
