Covid-19 surge: AMU to install oxygen plant

Aligarh: In view of the shortage of oxygen supply due to the Covid-19 pandemic across the country, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) sanctioned installation of an oxygen generation plant on Tuesday.

In a note, AMU Registrar's office said that the oxygen plant will cost Rs 1.41 crore.

The varsity said that the oxygen plant will help AMU to cater to the need for oxygen demand in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and also help in refilling of oxygen cylinders.

The note mentioned that the oxygen plant installation is expected to be completed in 3-4 weeks time.

Five AMU teachers have died in the past week after brief illnesses, some of them showing 'Covid-like symptoms', according to officials.
