New Delhi: India recorded 58,419 new COVID19 cases on Saturday, the lowest in over 80 days. For the first time in two and a half months, India recorded less than 60,000 cases per day. On Saturday, 87,619 people were discharged and 1,576 deaths were reported, the Health Ministry said.

The total number of cases recorded so far in the country stands at 2,98,81,965. So far, as many as 2,87,66,009 people were discharged while the death toll mounted to 3,86,713. As on Saturday, there were 7,29,243 active cases in the country.
As many as 18,11,446 samples were collected for testing on Saturday, taking the cumulative number of samples taken so far to 39,10,19,083. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.22 per cent. It has been less than 5 per cent for 13 consecutive days, the ministry said. The weekly positivity rate has declined to 3.43 per cent.
