COVID-19: India records 51K fresh infections, 1,329 deaths

India reported 51,667 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours as on 8 am on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said. In the same duration, 64,527 people recovered while 1,329 died.

New Delhi:India reported 51,667 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours as on 8 am on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said. In the same duration, 64,527 people recovered while 1,329 died, the ministry said on its website. The total number of COVID-19 cases stand at 3,01,34,445 of which 6,12,868 cases are active. As many as 2,91,28,267 people recovered so far. The death toll stands at 3,93,310.

More than 2.7 crore doses have been administered in the first four days of the free-for-all vaccination drive launched on June 21, the ministry said. The weekly positivity rate has dropped to less than 5% and is currently at 3.04%. The daily positivity rate is at 2.91%, less than 5% for 17 consecutive days, the ministry said.
