New Delhi: Famous Bollywood lyricist and Indian political activist Javed Akhtar met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in New Delhi on Thursday evening. He was accompanied by his wife and legendary actress Shabana Azmi. After the meeting, Akhtar told reporters that the country needs change as it is reeling under a very tense atmosphere. "People are giving provocative statements. Lately, northeast Delhi riots have claimed the lives of many people which was not right at all. Change is the need of the hour. Change should happen and efforts are being made to appease the country," he said.
Javed Akhtar said that he came to Delhi to congratulate Mamta Banerjee on her massive victory in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections. He also thanked Mamta for supporting the law on the royalty law of artists. "I also thanked the West Bengal CM for supporting the law on the royalty of writers. The royalty which writers receive today, I had never imagined that it would turn up to be true," he said.
