New Delhi: Amid political turmoil in the Punjab unit of Congress party, Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda held a meeting with the party leaders from Punjab in New Delhi on Saturday. Talking exclusively with ETV Bharat, BJP Punjab State President Ashwani Sharma said that under current circumstances, it is proven that the Congress party has lost the trust of people in Punjab.

He said that the blamed game of Navjot Singh Sidhu and Navjot Singh Sidhu within the Punjab Congress is worsening with the party leaders putting serious allegations on each other. "Congress should consider the crisis within its Punjab unit seriously as people feel that they are being cheated under the state government's rule," Sharma said.

He also claimed that in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections in 2022, people will remove Congress from power. On being asked if BJP will contest alone in the Punjab polls, Sharma said that BJP has done a lot of development work in the whole country. "The Centre has done lots of development work in Punjab. It has allocated many funds and people are observing all this. BJP is capable of winning polls on its strength," he stated.

On being asked about Akali Dal's separation from BJP, Ashwani Sharma said that BJP will not pose any harm to the Akali Dal. Reacting to the adjournment motion moved by the Akali Dal in the monsoon session, he said that politics is being done on farmers' laws.

"The Central government has passed all three farm laws in the interest of farmers and except a handful of people who are doing politics, all farmers are happy with these laws," Sharma said. He said that the protest against farm laws is politically motivated. "Opposition is conspiring and deliberately trying to keep this farmer protest alive till 2022," he added.
