Congress 'exposes' alleged corruption scandal by RSS, BJP leaders

The Congress party on Wednesday released videos and audio recordings of RSS campaigner Nimba Ram and suspended mayor Soumya Gurjar's husband Rajaram Gurjar, that suggest they were allegedly involved in a corruption scandal

New Delhi: The Congress party on Wednesday released videos and audio recordings of Nimba Ram, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) campaigner in Rajasthan, and Rajaram Gurjar alleging that they were involved in a corruption scandal. Gurjar is the husband of Soumya Gurjar, the suspended mayor of BJP of Jaipur Greater Corporation.

In the video, Gurjar is seen talking to a representative from BVG Nagpur, a waste collection company, about the transaction of money in exchange for passing the bill. Nimba Ram is seen sitting next to Gurjar. In these videos, the BJP-RSS leaders allegedly demand a 10% commission against the payment of Rs 276 crore.

During the tenure of Vasundhara Raje as the Chief Minister, BVG Nagpur was awarded the contract to manage waste. However, it is alleged that when the company approached the administration to clear its dues, suspended Mayor Soumya Gurjar and three BJP workers were accused of assaulting the Municipal Commissioner over the matter. In another audio, a person alleged to be BJP leader Raja Ram is heard shouting at a BVG employee telling him not to call senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari and Devendra Fadnavis for release of the payment.

"This is the BJP. Its members exert so much unwanted influence in regions where the party is not in power. Think what they must be doing in states where the party is in power. This is a company which was being given the contract when they were in power, now they are asking for commission, intimidating, threatening to release their payment," Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said while addressing a press conference.

Launching a scathing attack on BJP and RSS, Khera said, "Some leaders of the BJP gave statements in Rajasthan that it is a matter of donation for the temple and there were no irregularities. The donation trust of the temple had run a campaign, the date of which was fixed. If this is a donation for Ram Temple then why are you refusing to take the cheque and will the donation of the temple be taken in such a way that 10 percent commission of 276 crores?"

He further added, "Whenever they are caught red-handed, why do they use Lord Sri Ram or Mother India as their shield? You can't be indulging in corruption in the name of Lord Ram or Mother India. People of India will not forgive you. This is the organisation that does not have the moral courage to register itself, which does not have the decency to pay Income tax, which does not have the propriety to have a membership. So that denial makes easy if the person gets caught red-handed."

Recently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a case by taking suo motu cognizance of unknown sources. Anti-Corruption Bureau DG BL Soni said that we have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
