New Delhi: After facing lathi-charge, water cannons and tear gas shells, protesting farmers have got permission to enter into the national capital. However, Congress party, on Friday, demanded an apology from the BJP government for "shedding blood" of the farmers, while alleging that the ruling party is acting like East India Company.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill said, "It's a black day for our country as this BJP Government is attacking those farmers who fill our plates with food. BJP is acting like East India Company and General Dyre against our farmers. BJP respects Pakistan's army more than it respects our farmers."
Thousands of protesting farmers are assembled at various places along the Haryana-Punjab borders for their 'Dilli Chalo' protest. While the Delhi Police has allowed them to protest at Nirankari Samagam Ground in Burari area, BJP is accusing Congress of inciting the farmers against the recently enacted farm laws for politics.
"Rather than welcoming them with red roses, this Government is shedding red blood of our farmers and even doing politics over that. They are blaming Punjab Government as if farmers from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh are not coming to Delhi," replied Jaiveer Shergill.
He further added, "If raising voice for the rights of our farmers is politics, then yes, Congress is doing politics. We used to do this kind of politics and we will continue to do politics."
