New Delhi:With the onset of new year, the capital Delhi broke all the old records of temperatures at 1.1 degree Celsius, according to the information received from the meteorological department. The temperature was 6 degrees below normal, as well as the lowest temperature of this decade. Earlier in 2013, the minimum temperature was recorded at 1.9 degree Celsius.
The city is blanketed with fog with areas including Amar Park, Indralok, Shastri Nagar, Azad Market, Sarairohilla reporting visibility less than 100 meters.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its daily bulletin issued on December 31 at 9.00 pm, said that cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely to persist in isolated places over Delhi during next 2 days.
IMD also said that dense to very dense fog is very likely in some pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during the next 2 days.
