New Delhi: While coaching institutions gear up for revival after one and a half years of complete shutdown, the institutions have for the first time come up with the Coaching Federation of India. The federation is aimed at solving issues related to the industry, education sector and all stakeholders involved. The board members while addressing media in New Delhi on Wednesday said that they are making efforts to bring standards in the domain which is almost absent as there are no entry barriers.
"CFI has been built by a combination of coaching professionals, institutions, big brands and even the small groups from small cities. The motive is to bring them all together and work on common issues. If we need to communicate with the government on some issue, that is only possible if we have a platform," said Mrityunjay R Narayanan, President of the federation. The federation board members also expressed their concern over high GST on coaching fees and said they will approach central and state governments to bring it down.
"Suppose the fee for Engineering and Medical coaching is Rs 2 lakhs and there is 18% GST on that. So parents have to pay Rs 36,000 extra just because of high GST. We had also sent representation to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and will be approaching state governments as well to bring the GST on coaching fees under 5%" said NK Gupta, board member.
