Chandigarh:The Punjab Police launched a massive search operation in Hoshiarpur village late at night on Tuesday on getting inputs that Punjab's most-wanted Amritpal Singh and his aide might be in the area. This was after some suspects abandoned their vehicle near Gurdwara Bhai Chanchal Singh in Marnaian village following a car chase by the police.
The car from Phagwara was chased by the Punjab police on suspicion that fugitive Amritpal could be in it. The police launched a search operation soon after, with checkposts and barricades raised in and around the village in order to nab the suspects.
The Punjab Police has been on high alert ever since their attempt to nab the Khalistani leader failed on March 18 with Amritpal managing to give the police a slip. While the prime accused remains untraceable several members of his outfit have been put behind bars and sent off to Assam's Dibrugarh jail after charging them under the stringent National Security Act.
On Tuesday the Punjab Police said before the Punjab and Haryana High Court that they are close to nabbing him. Meanwhile, the young Khalistani preacher has been changing his appearance and switching vehicles while being on the run, CCTV visuals revealed.
A fresh video of Amritpal Singh along with his aide Papalpreet Singh surfaced on social media on Tuesday where the Khalistani leader was spotted without a turban, in dark goggles, and wearing a mask. The video is from a market in Delhi. Amritpal is known for changing his appearance and the Punjab police have circulated several of his photos with different appearances, across the country in order to nab him.
