Alwar: Son of a poor worker, a student of class 8 named Rohit, assumed the office of Alwar district collector on Wednesday for one day and it was a dream-come-true for him.
Rohit, a student of Naveen senior secondary school, was randomly selected to be a collector for a day when the Alwar collector Nannumal Pahadia attended an event at the school and asked the students who want to become Indian Administrative officer (IAS).
He was invited by Nannumal Pahadia and other district officials to the office and was ceremoniously seated in the Collector's chair. The boy also attended various meetings and video conferences with the district collector and learnt how the government officer guides other officers.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Alwar collector Nannumal Pahadia said, "Rohit would generate my report card which will highlight the drawback in my work. He stayed with me for a day to understand various aspects of the responsibility. Students who aspire to become IAS officers must be taught that they should work for the welfare of the people. The kids must also be taught how they should co-ordinate with other government officials."
