Chhattisgarh CM meets Shah on development of Naxal-hit Bastar region

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel met Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking the Centre's assistance in creating employment opportunities in Naxal-hit Bastar region. Baghel said that it is essential to create employment opportunities in these areas so that the unemployed are not forced to join Naxal groups.

New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, on Tuesday, met Union Home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, urging him to generate more employment opportunities in Bastar region to uproot Naxalism related issues.

He also said there will be another meeting in the upcoming days.

In addition to this, Baghel also asked the Union Minister to increase Telecom facilities in Naxal affected areas and deployment of two more CRPF battalions in Bastar.

While speaking to media, Baghel said that the Home Minister has assured an immediate action on the same.

The Chief Minister said that the iron ore is available in abundance in Bastar region and if iron ore is made available at 30% discount to Steel plants to be set up in Baskar than the investment of hundreds of crores and thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created.

He said that great power has not yet been reached in large part due to difficult geographical areas.

He also urged him not to privatize NMDC for development of Bastar to which home minister assured that he will consider the request.

Notably, Shah has given an assurance to consider the suggestions and request to fulfil the demands.
