Bilaspur: When 50-year-old Faghni Bai contracted diarrhoea, was down with high fever and started vomiting, she was in Naxal-affected Dantewada, a highly sensitive area sans transportation and road connectivity. However, help arrived in the form of an ambulance and made it to the hospital just in time and saved the life of an elderly woman.
The unavailability of roads and bridges makes it extremely difficult for villagers to reach hospitals in cases of emergency. But on Sunday, the case was different as the ambulance arrived on time, facing obstacles due to rough roads, and took Faghni Bai to the hospital where she is undergoing treatment now.
When the health condition of the woman started exacerbating on Sunday, the locals immediately called up the ambulance. The medical team, paramedical staff Ashok Singh, emergency medical technician (EMT or ambulance technician) Priyanka Sahoo left for Gaur Khed village and carried Faghni Bai to the hospital despite facing hurdles in their way.
