When the patrolling team was cordoning off a forest patch, located over 300 km from the state capital Raipur, Naxals detonated serial blasts in which two DRG constables received injuries, he said. The injured personnel, identified as Sanau Vadde and Ramji Potai, were shifted to a local hospital and their condition was stated to be out of danger. As a precautionary measure, they will be airlifted to Raipur for further medical treatment, the official said. A search operation was still underway in the area, he added.

Meanwhile, road construction work was going on in the interior areas of Narayanpur district headquarters to connect Akabeda and Kodoli village of Abujhmad with the Sonpur road. Ambush Naxalites triggered the ID while the combined force of DRG and ITBP personnel from Kurushnar police station was out on the Kodoli road on bikes.

According to Narayanpur Naxalite operation ASP, Akshay Kumar, the construction of roads in the interior areas of Abujhmad angered the Naxalites. He said that the search has been intensified by the soldiers in the area after the incident, while the de-mining of the roadway continues.
