New Delhi: The assembly by-poll results on Sunday saw the BJP successfully win four seats out of the seven contested across states. While the saffron party grabbed hold of UP's Gola Gokrannath and Haryana's Adampur, it further scored victories in Odisha's Dhamnagar and Gopalganj in Bihar. The much-awaited contest in Munugode, Telangana, however, saw TRS emerging victorious by more than 10,000 votes.

TRS wins Munugode bypolls

In the Munugode assembly by-elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy on Sunday emerged victorious against BJP's Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy by a margin of more than 10,000 votes. Earlier in the day, after 12 rounds of counting, KP Reddy had cumulatively polled more than 82,000 votes as opposed to his opponent's 74,224 votes.

Saffron shine in UP, Haryana, Bihar's Gopalganj

In Haryana's Adampur, largely considered to be the family bastion of former CM Bhajan Lal, the latter's grandson and BJP leader Bhavya Bishnoi secured a victory by a margin of 15,740 votes over Congress rival Jai Parkash.

Bihar's Gopalganj, meanwhile, saw Kusum Devi, BJP candidate and wife of four-time MLA late Mohan Prasad Gupta, win by a slight edge of 1,794 votes over rival Mohan Prasad Gupta of the RJD.

BJP candidate Aman Giri scored a comfortable win in Gola Gokrannath, in the Lakhimpur district of Uttar Pradesh, defeating SP's Vinay Tiwari by a lead of 34,298 votes.

RJD wins in Mokama

In Mokama, Neelam Devi of the Rashtriya Janata Dal won by a margin of 16,741 votes, defeating rival Sonam Devi of the BJP. The by-polls are being conducted following the disqualification of Anant Singh, the sitting MLA from RJD, due to his conviction in a case under the Arms Act. Neelam Devi is the wife of Singh and was fielded by RJD after the disallowance announcement.

BJP retains Odisha's Dhamnagar

In Dhamnagar, a seat in Bhadrak district which has seen frequent fluctuation of results in recent years, BJP's Suryabanshi Suraj bagged the contest, defeating Biju Janata Dal counterpart Abanti Das by a margin of 9,881 votes. The seat was won by BJD both in 2009 and 2014, with Bishnu Sethi of the saffron party getting it back in 2019. The current by-poll was necessitated after Sethi's death back in September this year, as the party fielded Suraj, his son, for the task.

Uddhav-led Sena faction gets comfortable victory in Andheri (East)

Rutuja Ramesh Latke, representing Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) won the by-poll to Andheri (East) Assembly seat in Mumbai by a huge margin of 64,959 votes. Similar to the previous seat, the by-poll in Andheri East was required after the death of sitting MLA Ramesh Latke back in May. The current electoral procedure became a mere formality after BJP withdrew its candidate from the race.
