Cyclone Burevi changes path towards Kerala coast

As per the latest update by the Indian Meteorological Department, cyclone Burevi would pass through Attingal, Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram by Friday evening.

Thiruvananthapuram: As per the latest update by the Indian Meteorological Department, the path of cyclone Burevi is likely to change and it would pass between Attingal and Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram. The storm would reach the coasts of Kerala by Friday evening.

The storm is expected to hit the southernmost region of the State in the form of a deep depression. Very heavy rains are expected in Thiruvananthapuram through Idukki districts as part of the cyclone Burevi.

Heavy rains are predicted in the State through this Saturday.

Winds would blow at a speed of 45 to 55 kilometre in Kerala, according to the IMD. The IMD has issued high alert in the State.

The cyclone storm which has blown in the Sri Lankan coasts is expected to make landfall on the Indian coasts by late on Thursday night or during the wee hours on Friday.

The cyclone storm would pass through Pamban and Kanyakumari in the Southern Tamil Nadu at a wind speed of 90 kilometres per hour.
