Kannur (Kerala): A bomb was hurled at the RSS office in the Payyannur area in the wee hours on Tuesday. The attack, which took place around 1:30 midnight, damaged the front windows of the office. No casualties were reported during the incident, as the workers who were in the office at the time of the attack escaped unhurt.

The RSS leadership has accused the CPM of being behind the attack. The attack was followed by the death anniversary of Dhanraj -- a CPM-DYFI worker of Payyannur Ramantali, who was killed by BJP-RSS workers back in 2016 -- celebrated on July 11.

The police have taken cognisance of the matter though the number of attackers is not yet known. The CCTV footage of the area suggested that several explosions were executed, thereby causing some damage to the property. The CCTV footage is further being examined to ascertain more details about the incident, the police officials said.

An FIR under relevant provisions of the Explosives Act has been registered and the investigation is underway to trace the culprits. The attack comes days after a bomb was hurled at the wall of CPI(M)'s state headquarters, AKG Centre, on the night of June 30 while the attacker in that case too is yet to be identified by police.
