BJP will get clear majority in forthcoming assembly elections: Tirath Singh Rawat

Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Tirath Singh Rawat expressed confidence that the state will fare well in the state assembly elections, 2022 under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

New Delhi:Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Tirath Singh Rawat on Friday said that the party will get a clear majority in the state assembly elections, 2022 under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Rawat also congratulated Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt for being appointed as the Minister in Narendra Modi-led central government. He also said that Bhatt is a senior leader of the party and always worked as a dedicated worker. The important works will be done under his leadership and PM Modi also pays special attention towards Uttarakhand, he added.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special attention to Uttarakhand. The state has also witnessed all-round development under his guidance. Many infrastructural development works including Railways, Chardham Highway project have also taken place in the state," he added.

On being asked whether his chief ministerial post was sacrificed keeping West Bengal by-polls in mind, to this Rawat said that these are nothing but baseless speculations. "I had to resign considering the constitutional crisis. I am an MP and I had to get elected as an MLA with six months to continue as the CM. Keeping Covid-19 situation in mind, it was not conducive to conduct by-polls so I had to resign," he added.

The former CM also slammed the Congress party for spreading misinformation regarding his resignation. He further said that the current CM of the state is a very experienced and hardworking leader and the state will fare well under his leadership in the coming assembly elections.
