BJP slams Opposition for spreading 'false propaganda' on vaccine shortage

Launching a blistering attack on the Opposition, BJP national spokesperson Sudesh Verma said that it is trying to take the political mileage by spreading false propaganda on vaccine shortage. He also alleged that the Opposition is trying to create an atmosphere of fear and confusion among people by spreading lies.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sudesh Verma on Monday hit out at Opposition saying that it is "misleading" people in the name of COVID vaccine shortage.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, he alleged that the Opposition is trying to create an atmosphere of fear and confusion among people by spreading lies.

"Today, when the country is successfully running its COVID vaccination campaign, the Opposition party is trying to take the political mileage by spreading false propaganda on vaccine shortage," he said.

Verma also said the current situation in some states was due to the "desperate" measures taken by respective state governments.

"People above 45 years was the target group for the vaccination drive. Some state governments are getting desperate, and they want to give vaccines to one and all. This is not possible for a country, with a huge population, like India," he added.

Notably, as many as 1,68,912 more people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country on Sunday taking the cumulative caseload to 1,35,27,717.

According to the health ministry, this is the biggest spike in new cases India has seen so far. The country has been reporting over one lakh cases since Wednesday last week.
