BJP moves SC seeking CBI probe into post-poll violence in West Bengal

Following the post-poll violence in West Bengal, BJP spokesperson Gautam Bhatia has filed a petition in the apex court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the matter. He alleged that the TMC dehumanized the political opponents, specifically targeting the BJP and its members and workers by branding them as fascists and bigots.

New Delhi: Senior Advocate and spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Gautam Bhatia has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) led probe into the post-poll violence in West Bengal.

Bhatia in his petition said that violence was orchestrated by the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) against those people who voted for other parties in the 2021 Assembly elections.

In the petition Bhatia alleged that the TMC dehumanized the political opponents, specifically targeting the BJP and its members and workers by branding them as fascists and bigots.

Meanwhile, the BJP has claimed that at least six of its party workers were killed in the violence.

Barely a day after the results of the hotly-contested assembly elections in West Bengal were declared, the state was gripped by violence in which many died and several people were injured.
