BJP leader Tarun Chugh slams Javed Akhtar for comparing RSS with Taliban

BJP national general secretary says Akhtar's comparison is unfair and it represents his mindset. Chugh evades question on chances of the government framing laws to control hate speech

New Delhi: Bhartiya Janta Party has lashed out at renowned poet and MP Javed Akhtar for comparing RSS with the Taliban.

Speaking with ETV Bharat, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that comparing the saffron party with the Taliban, which is responsible for the 9/11 incident in the United States, is not fair and the statement represents his mindset. He added that BJP has been serving the nation and fulfilling the needs of the deprived.

Replying to a question that Javed Akthar was not the first to compare RSS and BJP led UP Government with the Taliban, Tarun said that defaming patriotism has become the agenda of some parties. He further added that such parties are spreading enmity across the nation.

Chugh said people of the nation will answer to those who have been accusing a party serving the country while replying to a question whether the government will form law to stop people from making such comments as it did to control hate speech on Twitter.

Commenting on a question that earlier several film stars had said they were afraid to live in the country, Tarun said the conspiracy has have been hatched from the beginning to weaken nationalism and this has become the agenda of some parties.
