New Delhi: Slamming the NDA government for its inability to tackle the unemployment crisis, youth organisation Yuva Halla Bol called for observing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 as 'jumla diwas' (jumla day).

Yuva Halla Bol leader Anupam said that though Prime Minister Modi had promised crores of jobs before coming to power in 2014, in reality he has broken all unemployment records.

He said that many schemes like 'Skill India', 'Startup India', and 'Make in India' were just limited to announcements and slogans, and added that the youth of the country were fed up of the Prime Minister's jumlas (false promises).

The youth leader appealed to youngsters to observe Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday as 'jumla diwas'.

"To highlight the issue of unemployment, wake the government up, and demand a solution, I appeal to all students and youngsters of India to observe September 17 as jumla diwas. It has now been proven that most of the Prime Minister's promises were jumlas," he said.

However, the leader asked youngsters to take part in the protest from their homes in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Write any of the Prime Minister's jumlas on a piece of paper and burn it. However, it is our appeal that people do it form their homes and do not gather and form crowds in view of COVID-19," he said.
