Youth Congress protests against Unnao rape case

The IYC on Wednesday protested against the central government regarding the Unnao assault, Sonbhadra killings and the dilution of the RTI. The Youth Congress has also warned the government of 'Sansad-gherao' to make their demands.

New Delhi: On the day of Oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed interim President of Youth Congress, Srinivas BV, members of IYC from all across the country protested against Unnao Rape case by accusing BJP government of the loss. Along with this, they also raised the issues of Sonbhadra killings and dilution of the RTI Act.

Indian Youth Congress members protested against the government on Wednesday.

"We are protesting against the Unnao sexual assault case and various other government policies. Over 2 lakhs employees of MTNL and BSNL didn't get their salaries, our economy has been slowed down and moreover, the BJP government has diluted the RTI Act. So, we are raising these issues by our protest and we'll also do Sansad-Gherao to make our demands," said the national General Secretary of IYC, Bhaiya Panwar.

Behind the slogans of protest, there were some members of IYC who also paid homage to former External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj.

Gurpreet Singh Thal, said, "We came here to address a lot of our issues but we got to know about the death of Sushma Swaraj ji, and we are not able to speak much about our issues in this protest. However, the main concern for our state is employment which the government is not able to provide to the citizens."

Srinivas BV took his oath, on Wednesday, as the interim President of IYC, in the presence of various leaders of Congress, including Shashi Tharoor and Harish Rawat.
