Solan: Muscular dystrophy is a disease that weakens the muscles in the human body which results in the person being unable to walk but if one has strong will power and determination then this condition can not stop you from doing anything. One such example is Sanjana Goyal, a patient of muscular dystrophy who never took this disease as an obstacle in achieving her dreams.
She is a successful businesswoman and founder chairman of Asia's largest muscular dystrophy hospital, Manav Mandir, an NGO trying to make life better for patients of this incurable disease.
Sanjana has been spending her life on a wheelchair for the last 18 years and has made dozens of women self-reliant by providing them with employment in her boutique named 'Stitch and Style' in Solan.
Sanjana has done PG Diploma in B.Sc Home Science and a Fashion Designing course from Punjab University. Here are excerpts of ETV Bharat's conversation with Sanjana Goyal.
With confidence, a person can win over any medical issue
Sanjana shares that a person is nothing without confidence. She said that there is no cure for muscular dystrophy, but confidence is the biggest cure for this disease. Sanjana distributes free medicines for the treatment to children suffering from the disease and also create awareness among the families of the patients.
"This disease usually takes down more than one member of the same family. I saw my brothers suffering from this problem and I figured out in my school that I also suffer from the same problem." Sanjana said.
