Bengaluru (Karnataka): Pune based model Roopa Rizawl was cheated by a woman in Bengaluru when she visited the city in search of modelling opportunities, reports said.
Due to the effects of Corona and the lockdown, Roopa was facing a lack of opportunities in the field of modelling.
In order to get more opportunities, she arrived in Bengaluru 15 days ago and was staying in Ramanashree hotel in the city. She contacted her friend Chandini for opportunities who referred her to Sufia Alias Maya.
Maya offered Roopa a job as a model worth Rs. 70,000 per month and asked her to stay at her home instead of a hotel. Maya arrived at Ramanashree hotel to pick up Roopa. Taking her luggage and money Roopa sat in the car with Maya and headed to her place in Saddugunte Palya. While on the way, Roopa asked Maya to stop the car so that she could deposit money for her mother.
Maya agreed to take the model to an ATM, but instead, she roamed the city for more than two hours. She finally stopped the car at Satellite Bus Stand on the city. After stopping, Maya asked Roopa to take the blanket from the boot of the car. As soon as Roopa got down from the car, Maya sped away taking two mobile phones, bags and Rs. 3 lakhs belonging to Roopa.
Roopa has filed a complaint against Maya at Byatarayanapura police Station.
