New Delhi: Under the banner of "Ham Bharat Ke Log" organisation, several activists and student unions will hold a protest marches by forming a human chain on January 30 against the Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Swaraj Abhiyan Chief and activist Yogendra Yadav, who earlier in the day announced about the protest said, "January 30 is the day when Mahatma Gandhi was gunned down by Nathuram Godse and the day is known as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs' Day. We will start making the human chain at 5:17 PM. This is the time when Mahatma Gandhi was shot by Nathuram Godse."

He further said, "Today, citizens are divided by the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. We chose the day to show that the followers of Gandhi's ideology will unite and will show who they will raise their voice against Godse's ideology."

He also added that people from different spheres including student unions, the Shaheen Bagh protestors and many more will hold different marches against CAA and NRC here under the banner of "Ham Bharat Ke Log".

Former JNU Students Union (JNUSU) President N Sai Balaji, said that representatives from 60 student unions from across the nation will converge at Rajghat to form the "Satyagrah human chain" on January 30.

Protesters are trying to pressurise the government to take back its decision about CAA and NRC, however, Modi government has made its stand clear on the whole matter that it will not make any changes in the CAA and NRC.
