Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh):Scientists at the Indian Vegetable Research Institute, Varanasi, have developed a new variety of lady's finger popularly known as bhindi or okra, but this new variety of bhindi is red in colour.
Scientists claim that this variety of lady's finger, developed after eight-year-long research and hard work, is beneficial for a lot of people.
This new variety has been named 'Kaashi Lalima', and can also be consumed raw as part of a salad.
Scientists at the institute say that the new variety of the vegetable would be made available at the market after two and a half years.
