Uttarakhand minister gets jail term for misconduct

Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Dr Harak Singh Rawat along with his supporters were booked for misbehaviour and violence against government employees during 2012 state assembly election. Rudraprayag District Court pronounced the verdict of three months imprisonment with a penalty of Rs 1,000.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand cabinet minister Dr Harak Singh Rawat has been sentenced to three months in jail along with a penalty of Rs 1,000 by Rudraprayag District Court for misconduct against government employees during 2012 assembly elections.

During the 2012 Uttarakhand assembly election, Dr Rawat and his supporters were booked for misconduct and violence against government employees. The case has been with the Rudraprayag Court for the last eight years.

However, the court has granted him bail till the appellate period.
