Uttarakhand: 4 of 62 trainee IFS officers suspected of carrying corona virus

At least four of 62 trainee IFS officers, who returned to Dehradun after receiving training in Russia, Spain and Finland on Friday evening, are suspected of being infected with coronavirus after they complained of cough and cold.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand): As many as 62 trainee Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers, who returned to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun from their training in Russia, Spain, and Finland on Friday evening, have had to undergo a thorough medical examination after four of them complained of cough and cold, symptoms associated with COVID-19.

The blood samples drawn from all the trainees have been sent to Sushila Tiwari Medical College in Haldwani by the Uttarakhand health department to ascertain if they are carrying the virus.

When a team of doctors led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Minaxi Joshi examined the officers at the institute, four of them were suspected of carrying the coronavirus.

The number of positive cases of coronavirus in India has risen to 107, with two deaths, till the time of filing this story.

More than 4,000 people, who had come in contact with 84 positive cases, are under surveillance, said the health ministry on Saturday.
