New Delhi:In a fresh affidavit filed before the Supreme court on Wednesday regarding Hathras incident, the Uttar Pradesh government has asked the court to direct CBI to submit a status report on the alleged rape and murder case, in every 15 days.
In its last hearing the apex court had directed the State to file an affidavit detailing the case and actions it took. The Uttar Pradesh government has provided three-layered security to the victim's family, deployed women police officers for the safety of female members of the family and installed CCTV surveillance.
The State's response was sought by the court on the basis of pleas seeking an independent investigation into the incident.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court observed that the late-night cremation of the Hathras woman who died after alleged gang-raped was a violation of human rights.
