UP govt's refugee list is a drama: Hannan Mollah

Senior CPM leader Hannan Mollah alleged that UP government's reported submission of refugee list to the Centre is a mere drama. To support his statement, Mollah added that it is not possible to implement CAA as the Act has been passed but its rules are yet to be framed.

New Delhi: Senior CPI-M leader Hannan Mollah on Monday termed Uttar Pradesh (UP) government's reported submission of refugee list to the Centre "as a drama."

Taking strong note over reports that Yogi Adityanath government has submitted the first list of 40,000 Hindu refugees living across 19 districts of the state, Mollah said, "Maximum death over Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protest took place in Uttar Pradesh. And this government is in a hurry to show a section of people that they think for them...".

"CAA has been passed but its rules are yet to be framed...how can government implement the Act without forming the rules," said Mollah.

He further said that this is nothing but a drama by adding that this Government wanted to make India a Hindu rastra.

"We condemn the move in the strongest term. Because we believe citizenship can't be given on the basis of religion," Mollah told ETV Bharat.

Quoting the Act Mollah said that the refugees have needed to prove that they are the victims of religious prosecution.

With the submission of the list, the UP government has become the first state to begin the process for implementation of the CAA.

The report from the UP government is also believed to have described the personal stories of the refugees.
