UP govt plans grand Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya

Diwali celebrations would be a grand affair in Ayodhya this year too. Yogi Adityanath government has already made all preparations and the city would be illuminated with 551,000 traditional 'diyas' (lights). People from various countries are expected to be part of the celebrations.

New Delhi: Diwali celebration in Ayodhya of Utttar Pradesh would be a grand affair with the Yogi Adityanath government planning to illuminate the city with five lakh fifty one thousand traditional 'diyas' on the occasion.

"Ayodhya belongs to Ram. Efforts are being made to recreate the scene Ram returning to the city after 14 years of exile," Lallu Singh, MP of the region told ETV Bharat here.

"The state government has been celebrating it in the similar manner for the past three years. All government offices, public places and almost all houses in the city would be illuminated to mark the occasion," he said.

The BJP leader also informed that people from different countries would come to participate in the celebrations.

Talking about the issue of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the parliamentarian said that the Supreme Court has reserved its order on the issue and the judgement comes things would move forward," he said, expressing hope that the court's decision would be in favour of the Hindus as they have presented all required documents and evidence in the court during the hearing.

"All preparations are done. The work of building the Ram Temple would start right after the court's decision," he added.

On being asked if there would be peace after the court's decision on the sensitive matter, the BJP MP said "it would be peaceful".
