She said that opposition has failed in its politics on the new agriculture bills and for that she is thankful to the citizens.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, she alleged that the opposition is misleading the farmers on the Minimum Support Price.

Stressing on the MSP, Irani said that from September to December 5, Centre procured 336 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth Rs.60,000 crore from 33 lakh farmers and 60% of the beneficiaries are from Punjab.

The Congress government and 'mandi system' in Punjab is witness to the MSP operations in the state, she added.

Pointing on the rail roko Andholan by the members of the opposition, she said that how the railways were stopped and how the members of opposition threatened the shopkeepers in the mandi or wholesale market is the proof that opposition is doing politics on the issue.

She further added that most of the farmers in the country support the new agriculture bills.

Hitting out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the minister said that Rahul Gandhi had propagated in the 2019 manifesto that they want to destroy the APMC system and when the farm bills were debated in the parliament, Rahul Gandhi was absent.

She also said that in 2010, it was Sharad Pawar who wanted to amend the APMC Act, but now is not supporting farmer bills due to political gains.
