New Delhi: The Congress on Friday, hit out at the Central Government over the rise in unemployment rate, alleging that a number of results for Government jobs are not being announced due to which recruitment to vacant posts in various institutions are still pending.
The party questioned the government for not putting in "proactive-efforts" to provide jobs to the youth, asking whether it was "ill-intended or ill-executed?"
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh said, "In the last 6 years, we have been hearing the same old rhetoric of creating jobs every year, without any ground results. With a labour force of 42.8 crore in the country, 3.6 crore are unemployed."
"On one hand, the government has been preposterously incompetent in creating jobs both in urban and rural economy but what's more problematic is the apathetic approach by the NDA government towards honouring the fulfillment of vacancies," he further added.
Congress also noted that the notification for Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group-D vacancies for year 2020, were released on February 23, 2019, but the exam date has not been announced yet.
There were almost 1.03 lakh vacancies, the examination fee was set for Rs 500 and 1.16 crore people had applied for the posts. Congress alleged that more than Rs 500 crore were collected as examination fees but no exam has been conducted till now.
