Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Security forces on Tuesday midnight arrested two suspected militants from Jawhar Tunnel area of Qazigund in south Kashmir's Kulgam district and recovered weapons from them.
Police officials said that security forces on specific information intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK22B-1737, coming from Jammu to Kashmir, near Jawhar Tunnel on the highway.
Officials said, the driver of the truck and a person travelling in it were detained and after sustained interrogation, they turned out to be militants.
They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Kuttey, son of Ghulam Muhammad Kuttey and Shahnwaz Ahmad Mir, son of Zahoor Ahmad Mir, both residents of Chotipora Shopian.
The recovered weapons included one AK-47 rifle with two magazines, one M4 US carbine with three magazines and six Chinese pistols with 12 magazines, officials said.
The operation was carried out jointly by the police and the army. The weapons were recovered from a truck coming from Jammu.

"Two suspects arrested in a joint operation near Jawahar Tunnel, Kulgam at midnight yesterday based on J&K police inputs," the Army said.
Earlier, on September 4 Srinagar police solved the case of the terrorist attack in Pandach in May this year in which two Border Security Force jawans were killed. Five uncategorised terrorists of ISJK who helped in transporting, logistics, planning and executing the attack were arrested.
