The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a proposed rule to fix the period of stay for international students, exchange visitors and foreign journalists. Under the proposed rule, the F or J nonimmigrants would be admitted into the United States for a period up to the end date of their program, not to exceed four years.

9. Kremlin critic Navalny's apartment seized, his aide says

A day after the most prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Alexei Navalny, was discharged from a Berlin hospital, Russian authorities seized his Moscow based apartment on Thursday. The seizure was connected to a court ruling in favour of a school catering company reportedly linked to Yevgeny Prigozhin, a tycoon with ties to Russia's president that earned him the nickname 'Putin's chef.'

10. NIA arrests alleged key conspirator in Bengaluru riots

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Bengaluru violence case, arrested 44-year-old Sayed Saddiq Ali, the key conspirator in the attack on KG Halli police stations on August 11. The key accused works as a recovery agent with a bank and has been absconding since August 11.
